Mobility and Messaging
For many organisations their Mobility solution is now a vital part of their overall communications platform and for some it’s “mission-critical”. Mobility solutions deliver many benefits to both end users and the organisation as a whole, improving overall communications.
With a Mobility Solution, your staff are no longer tied down to a specific location so as to remain contactable. They now have the ability to roam throughout their working environment completing their tasks, all while being contactable and having the ability to receive, action and respond to messaging and alarm notifications.
Duress is often an important part of any mobility solution and provides both security and assurance for roaming staff, giving them the ability to immediately trigger an alarm to call for assistance. Furthermore a duress system can incorporate automatic alarm generation such as “man down” or “non-responsive” features.
But getting a duress notification is only one part of the solution, locating the roaming staff member in the shortest time period is essential. Incorporating location tracking within your mobility solution will give you much more defined information in the event of an alarm.
Some of the devices used remain contactable and receive/send messages and alarms include IP DECT Handsets, WiFi Handsets, Duress Buttons, Pagers, Mobile Phones and more.
Some of the end users who benefit from mobility and messaging solutions include;
- Nurses: communication at patient bedside, increased protection, nursecall integration, quicker response to medical emergencies and security threats, a clinical grade reliable handheld device.
- Ward Managers: rapid response co-ordination to trauma or disaster situations, real time medical alarm delivery, improved communication with subordinates.
- Security Staff: remaining contactable all the time, quicker response to security threats, ability to remain in contact while on route to situation, ruggedised handsets.
- Cleaners: integration with task dispatch and management, improved notification and response to administration staff, ruggedised handsets.
- Storeperson: increase in productivity, quicker response to requests, OHS&W improvement with “man down and “non-responsive features”.
- Teachers: contactable anywhere on campus, integration with alarm systems including invac/evac, improves staff security and the security of students.
Messages are typically generated from integrated management systems and also from LAN/WAN connected PC users with a Paging Graphical User Interface (GUI). Examples of the types of management systems supported include;
- Nursecall
- Hospital Management
- Building Management
- Fire Panel
- Access Control
- Information Technology (IT)
- Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
- Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
- Gaming Management.
